Gardot’s unique path to stardom and a Grammy Award nomination came after she was involved in a serious vehicle accident in 2003, rendering her bend-bound in hospital for a full year.
While incapacitated Gardot had to relearn how to walk, brush her teeth and perform other simple tasks.
She began writing music again as a means of improving her memory and rediscovering a passion for life.
Consequently she has became a huge advocate for musical therapy since tasting success as a born-again artist.
